Stranger Child -Review-

Stranger Child

Synopsis: From the author of number one bestseller, Sleep Tight.

One Dark Secret. One act of revenge.

When Emma Joseph met her husband David, he was a man shattered by grief. His first wife had been killed outright when her car veered off the road. Just as tragically, their six-year-old daughter mysteriously vanished from the scene of the accident.

Now, six years later, Emma believes the painful years are behind them. She and David have built a new life together and have a beautiful baby son, Ollie.
Then a stranger walks into their lives, and their world tilts on its axis.
Emma’s life no longer feels secure. Does she know what really happened all those years ago? And why does she feel so frightened for herself and for her baby?

When a desperate Emma reaches out to her old friend DCI Tom Douglas for help, she puts all their lives in jeopardy. Before long, a web of deceit is revealed that shocks both Emma and Tom to the core.

They say you should never trust a stranger. Maybe they’re right.

My Rating: 5/5

My Review:
What a fantastic book! And another cover I happen to love.  It has been a while since a book has gripped me from the first few pages and kept me hooked throughout….and this was certainly one of those books!

The writing style was fast paced and the story flowed beautifully. I particularly enjoyed the characters within this book….Natasha is one who makes you wonder whether you should love or hate her. Icy on the outside but very vulnerable within. Every now and then a little crack appears that lets you inside her psyche.

Her father, David, on the other hand…well there were times I just wanted to punch him in the face. And that is all I am going to say about that!

I loved Emma. Poor girl. What has she got herself into…and then of course Ollie. Tom, Becky and Tom’s brother Jack are also thrown in the mix and the twists and turns throughout this book really kept me on edge. I was gutted, to say the lest, each time I had to close it…why does life have to get in the way of reading!!

I could go on forever with name dropping characters but that will be up to the reader. We will all have our favourites. I expect there will be more to this story or certainly some of the characters within. I will be downloading/buying a few more of Rachel Abbott’s books for sure! Highly recommend this book folks!
