Murder, Magic & Mayhem: 6 Books You NEED on Your TBR! #spookyseason #bookreviews #bookrecommendations #crimebookjunkie

Murder. Magic. Family secrets. And a LOT of questionable decisions.

My recent reads have been an absolute RIDE, and honestly? My poor emotions have been through the wringer! 😂 From twisted family dramas and dark, atmospheric mysteries to witchcraft, murder and the kind of secrets that should DEFINITELY stay buried, I’ve been spoilt for choice! So, if your TBR needs a little chaos (and let’s face it, whose doesn’t?), here are SIX books (a mix of fantasy and thriller) I’ve recently devoured and think you should check out!

Tallow & Bone – Rhiannon Hargadon

Witches, persecution, forbidden magic and some seriously difficult choices! Set against the Salem witch trials, this one gave me ALL the feels. Anger. Sadness. Fury. Elation. Honestly, I was emotionally EXHAUSTED by the end! Dark, powerful and thought-provoking, with themes of prejudice, sacrifice and survival. Loved it!

The Cutting – Michael J. Malone

A serial killer who refuses to stay dead? EXCUSE ME?! 😱 Dark, chilling and deliciously unsettling, this gothic thriller brings together supernatural terror, Scottish history and a mystery that refuses to stay buried. Annie Jackson is back, and things are about to get VERY creepy!

The Sisters of Crimson House – Melissa Anderson Sweazy

A haunted house, a family of psychics, sibling tensions and secrets lurking in the shadows. YES PLEASE! A deliciously gothic tale exploring family legacy, belonging and the lengths we’ll go to protect what matters. Atmospheric, mysterious and perfect for spooky season!

Mother, Daughter, Sister, Stranger – Hank Phillippi Ryan

Family secrets? Check. A missing woman? Check. Lies, deception and a past that refuses to stay buried? DOUBLE CHECK! A twisty domestic thriller that reminds us sometimes the people we think we know best are hiding the most. Trust NO ONE!

Surface – Olivier Norek

Now THIS is the kind of crime fiction I love! A damaged detective, a remote French village and a long-buried mystery that quite literally rises to the surface. Dark, atmospheric and packed with emotional depth, this is a compelling police procedural about trauma, resilience and uncovering the truth.

My Killer Family Reunion – Dinesh Thiru

Imagine attending a family reunion where EVERYONE has joked about murdering Grandma for her inheritance. Then Grandma ends up in a coma. AWKWARD! 😂 Chaotic, funny and full of heart, this YA mystery delivers family drama, secrets, suspicion and some brilliant humour. But beneath the mayhem is a lovely story about identity, finding your voice and standing up for yourself. Such an entertaining read! If you liked A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, you’ll love this one!

Six very different books. A whole lot of murder, mystery, magic and emotional damage and not a single boring moment! My TBR may be completely out of control, but I’m calling that a ME problem for another day. 😂

NOW TELL ME… 👀 Which of these six would you pick up FIRST? Or have you read one already? I NEED to know!
