Synopsis:
The greater the Evil, the more deadly the game…
When a rapist is found mutilated in a brutal attack, Detective Kim Stone and her team are called in to bring a swift resolution. But, as more vengeful killings come to light, it soon becomes clear that there is someone far more sinister at work.

With the investigation quickly gathering momentum, Kim finds herself exposed to great danger and in the sights of a lethal individual undertaking their own twisted experiment.

Up against a sociopath who seems to know her every weakness, for Detective Stone, each move she makes could be deadly. As the body count starts to mount, Kim will have to dig deeper than ever before to stop the killing. And this time – it’s personal.

My Rating: 5/5

My Review:
Evil Games is the second book in the DI Kim Stone series and I tell you what….if you loved Silent Scream (I certainly did) this book will make you an even bigger fan of Angela Marsons!

This is a difficult review to write as I want to say so much but fear it will give away too much of what makes this story great. What I can say is that Evil Games continues on DI Kim Stone’s journey of self discovery in a very uncomfortable way. The two main stories in this book are great even if they are not comfortable to read in themselves. Child sexual abuse and murder are the topics and both plots are so cleverly written that you are hooked from the start.

Once again there were some OMFG moments that literally left me open mouthed in shock! You feel compelled to shout and scream during parts of this book and I certainly felt the frustrations of Kim Stone when trying to uncover the truth and get her colleagues on side.

I loved the characters in this book. Particularly DI Stone’s nemesis. What a brilliant and scary character! The sociopathic tendencies are so well written I was left chilled to the bone. Bryant is back in the role of Kim’s protector and there is a moment where I even got a bit emosh! Yes…this Ice Queen melted a little inside!!! I am once again also thinking about Dawson…what is the story here…there is more to this guy that needs to come out and now Stacey has been thrown in for good measure. What is her story. The author has a great way of throwing in little bits…like bread crumbs that the reader is meant to follow. I have no doubt we will be learning more and more in the next book.

If you want a great thriller which messes with your mind, makes you think about people you have come across and literally chills you to the bone…this is one of those books. It is full of suspense and aptly titled. I highly recommend this book…and oddly wonder if some of the techniques used by the antagonist would work….did I just say that!?! Well done Angela Marsons on another superb piece of writing!
