Claire’s Review:

Normally I avoid US based crime novels; its an irrational thing and it hasn’t always been the case. I’ve read books by Kellerman, Patterson, Reichs, Coben, Barclay (yes I know he’s kind of Canadian) but I’ve grown to prefer UK based stories – it must be my brain wanting to picture the British countryside and busy cities that I’m familiar with.  Thankfully I know Graham Smith can write a cracking crime story so it couldn’t be that bad!
“Its homicide not murder”
Obviously fans of Mr Smith’s books will want to draw comparisons between Boulder and Evans; I admit I did. But JAKE BOULDER IS NOT HARRY EVANS!!! Boulder is a lot younger and fitter. And there seems to be a chink in Mr Boulder’s armour – his mum.  He’s a good lad and looks after his mum but I get the impression he’s a wee bit scared of her!
There is definitely a different feel to Watching the Bodies compared to the Harry Evans series.  I don’t know if its because there is a more compact team running the show or that our hero isn’t your typical cop, in fact he’s not a cop at all, he’s a hard man paid to break up fights in bars.  However Watching the Bodies is packed with intrigue.  The pace is there from the off with the short chapters and the race against time to find “The Watcher”.
This is going to sound a little bit weird but I really loved the whole selection process the killer has got going on.  He’s a bit sick in the head but he’s thorough and methodical. And his identity definitely kept me guessing – I trusted no-one other than our man Jake!!  Everyone was under suspicion!!
Graham Smith has definitely created a character in Jake and I am going to love following him as he chases around catching the bad guys.
A massive thank you to Bloodhound books for my copy of Watching the Bodies.  I can’t wait to see what Graham Smith has in store for Jake in the next instalment.

Woohoo!  Fantastic review from Claire and I’m confident to say to you all, I HAVE read what is next in store for my man, Jake Boulder and I can more than assure you that The Kindred Killers (out September 12th 2017) will make Watching The Bodies seem tame!  Seriously!!  So make sure you grab your copy by clicking the wee book below as you will want to be all caught up before #BoulderISUnleashed again!
