MURDER CAN BE MAYHEM.

2013
Rockstar Johnny Mayhem sits on his bed, holding a bloody baseball bat. On the floor, clutching a lavender rose in her fist, is his wife, Amanda, who he has just beaten to death. Erika Piper knows this because she is one of the first on the scene. Mayhem is arrested and led away, screaming that they’ve got the wrong man. But the evidence is irrefutable and when Mayhem is sentenced to life in prison, no one is surprised.

Now
Thanks to new evidence, Johnny Mayhem is a now free man. During a television interview, he issues a thinly veiled threat to those involved in the original case before seemingly disappearing off the face of the Earth. When the body of Mayhem’s dealer is found, Erika Piper is pulled from the safety of her desk job and thrown into the hunt for the Rockstar. Can she find Mayhem before he can enact his revenge on everyone involved, including Erika? Or, has he been telling the truth all along? Did the police really get the wrong man?

Set in Manchester and the third and final (?!??) book in the DI Erika Piper series, the reader will come face to face with the past, second guessing decisions made, guilt, consequences, betrayal, revenge and a search for justice.

WOW! WOW! OMFG WOW! ? An absolutely fantastic opening which first had me wondering WTAF was going on… then it turned really sinister and the chills enveloped me. The storyline is clever and kept me on my toes. Not going lie – I was DEVASTATED to learn it’s the last in the series (so much so, I messaged the author, pleading for him to tell me it wasn’t true) but holy mother of trucker – it was phenomenal. Talk about going out with a bang.

I absolutely ADORE the MC in this series. She goes from strength to strength, determined, but also vulnerable at times and this makes her relatable. This was a highly emotive read – I may have had a tear or two. As with the whole series, the author writes believable characters – well drawn out so that the reader is invested 100%.

Would I recommend this book? With my very last breath I would! Compelling, complex, explosive, addictive… you name it, this book has it! I urge you to check out the whole series if you love chilling, dark, atmospheric reads. Go! Go! Go!
