A dark evil is brewing… #ABetrayalOfStorms #AKingdomOfLies #Review @BenAldersonBook

I’m reviewing TWO books today and not my usual genre but bear with me as there are murders, crimes of all kinds in fact, just not in this world! 🤔😉

Perfect for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and From Blood and Ash, this new, fantasy romance about a half-fey boy and his personal guard preventing a war between the realms.

Wychwood, the realm of the fey prepare for war against the humans who hate, hunt and kill them for coin. Aided by the unclaimed, destructive power of the murdered, forgotten Winter Court, they ready their numbers for complete domination of the human realm.

All until Robin Vale reveals himself to be the last Icethorn heir. A hope for the humans he has grown up amongst, but to the detriment of many who would see him dead before ruining their years of preparation.

Robin finds allies during his discovery of a realm he has long since feared. Erix, a fey warrior who aids as a distraction during the long nights. Althea, a stern princess hellbent on stopping the human hunters from killing her kind.

Thrust into a world of betrayal, murder and lies he must survive long enough to have the choice; listen to fate and claim his families power, or let it wreak havoc on a realm that turned its back on him for becoming who he was truly meant to be.

But a dark evil is brewing, monsters have returned and the scales of power are being forced by a hand who longs for revenge.

Oh my friggin god! What sorcery have I stumbled across!? I only dabble in fantasy as a genre, it has to be the right world, the right characters, the right storyline. This book ticks ALL those boxes and so much more.

Welcome to Wychwood and the Realm of Fey…

I was immersed in the story, invested in the characters and entranced by the world that I immediately bought the second book and the audio to listen too. (See my review below).

The author has cleverly devised a land where humans are hunters and the fey are the hunted. We are thrown into immediate jeopardy as Robin, half human/half Fey is abducted and from there OMFG the storm comes and is NON FRIGGIN STOP!

This is not your typical fantasy novel. It has all the right ingredients but also includes a bit of magical writing that you will find yourself addicted to. The author brings this world to life, and the pace and journey itself is masterfully written. Murder, magic and some spicy MM romance will leave you breathless!

Once in a while you stumble across a gem. You want to keep it a secret, so you can enjoy every moment yourself but you also want to scream about it from the rooftops. This is THAT book! I was like a crack addict, needing my next fix and I had no choice but to buy the next book. My review for that is below.

The thrilling sequel to A Betrayal of Storms, perfect for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses and From Blood and Ash.

Despite the deception of friends and family, Robin Icethorn has become the King he was destined to be. But enemies still surround him, some hidden behind the smiles of those he trusts. His world is thrown into chaos when the god’s become more than just stories. And Robin will do anything to save his father, his last living relative. Even if that means striking up a deal with the father of the person who tried to murder him.

A Kingdom of Lies takes place after the events of A Betrayal of Storms. Readers who enjoy stories full of magic, romance and adventure… but with added spice, will love this series. Dive into the Realm of Fey series and uncover your own magic.

World building at its finest! This is the second book in a trilogy that I’ve read and I pre ordered the third – I need it now! ⬇️

But back to A Kingdom of Lies! The clue is in the title. The author has once again created a fantasy world – the perfect realm – which captivated me.

I’m invested in these characters – their highs, lows, and experiences.  The raw emotions stirred within had me racing through the pages.

There was love, action, mystery, murder, revenge and so much more to keep my full attention. I only happened across this author recently and now I must read ALL THE BOOKS!

If you love magic, MM romance, pulse pounding action and adventure, this book will have you hooked! Highly recommended!
