24 Hours: Claire Knight #GuestReview

Lucky to have my ‘lil star guest reviewer, Claire Knight, as otherwise this blog would fizzle away!  Incredibly busy and need to catch up on my TBR – but Claire has a cracking review today of Claire Seeber’s 24 Hours! A book I have and need to read!  Let’s see what Claire thinks:

Synopsis:

Here today. Dead tomorrow?

My best friend, Emily, is dead – killed last night in a hotel fire.
But it was meant to be me.
Now I have 24 hours to find my daughter.
Before he finds out I’m still alive.

24 Hours is a fast-paced, intelligent psychological thriller that will leave you breathless.

Claire’s Rating: 4.5/5

Claire’s Review:

When I read Claire Seeber’s latest novel The Stepmother last year just before its release, I promised myself that I would read more from this author as I really enjoyed that novel and I knew I had some of her other offerings buried on my rather overloaded kindle. Well that time came when I decided to read 24 Hours.

It’s different to The Stepmother. I felt 24 Hours was at a faster pace to The Stepmother but then again, the clue is in the title; it can’t go slowly when the present is set in such a small timescale and boy does a lot happen in that 24 Hours!! But then again, there are also similarities. The time jumping happens in both. Its a clever way of giving the reader some of the back story without telling it all at once. You’re drip fed titbits to keep you guessing, which is always a good thing with this sort of thriller.

As I read, I found myself suspecting everyone and trusting no-one; all my suspects for the fire were totally unreliable, all with motive. Many questions popped in my head as the story developed. Why was Laurie desperate to get to her daughter Polly before her estranged husband Sid? Who would want to kill Laurie – she seemed the victim to me. “I should have kept running”

Sid was a very interesting character – he’s a very mixed up man, it was almost like he hadn’t accepted he was an adult and grown up. He was also like a drug for Laurie. She knew she needed to give him up but struggled to do so! “You can’t win against Sid”…

I will definitely be returning to Claire Seeber’s writing, based on 24 Hours and The Stepmother. These are both excellent thrillers that grab your attention throughout!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for my e-copy of 24 Hours.

  1. Awesome review! I loved The Stepmother up until the last chapters, which were a letdown for me, I was devastated! I might have gotten my expectations too high. But I think I should give this one a try, it sounds a bit different and I’m happy to hear the pace is, obviously, faster.
