Kate Bennett, presenter of paranormal investigation cable TV show, ‘Where the Dead Walk’, isn’t sure what she believes, other than she seems cursed to lose all those closest to her.
After investigating a neglected cliff-top house, empty for a decade because it’s ‘haunted’, Kate is convinced a spirit within holds the answers to a childhood she can’t remember and an unimaginable crime.
What she can’t know is that the house’s owner, Sebastian Dahl, is searching for something too, and he intends to get it, whatever the cost.

My Review:
I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. Where The Dead Walk was a good read overall. As I had not read any reviews prior to agreeing to read this book, I started reading with an open mind. I instantly loved the cover of this book ~ haunting, eery with that edginess that made me want to delve a bit deeper.
The story-line itself was also very good and there were parts of the book where I sat wondering where in the world is the author leading me? In a good way! I was drawn in from the start, as the author dropped little snippets of information like breadcrumbs…I had to follow the trail! Although I do enjoy dabbling in the paranormal, it is not my usual genre. This book had a good mix of suspense, spookiness (is that even a word?!..it is now!) and even a bit of romance for any of you who enjoy a bit of that mushy malarkey. Thankfully, the romance bit did not play a huge part in this story or I may have had to drop a star! LOL. There was also a mix of channelling (spirits), possession,the occult and slight obsession so that was a positive, given the theme of this book!
The main characters who stood out for me were, of course, Kate–the main character and her paranormal partner, Henry. Charlie– who was a part of the Where The Dead Walk team, also piqued my interest. And finally, Sebastian Dahl and Simon Renwick, who were what I would class as the “baddies” also left an imprint on my mind. My one critique, however, is that the depth of character was slightly lacking. By this I mean, none of these characters stayed with me after I had finished the book. They needed that little bit more development to draw the “wow” factor…for me anyway!
There was also a part in the book (which I won’t go into in too much detail due to spoilers) that I felt could have been a little less…we are given a bit of history/backstory to one of the characters (Lawrence) and to be honest, a few pages less would have had the same impact. Had it not been a good part of the story, I may have skipped those pages!
Was it a good read? Absolutely! Would I recommend this book to people who enjoy Paranormal Thrillers…hell ya! My own views are just my opinion based on my preferred reading genre…to others, this could well be a diamond!
