It promised freedom. It became their prison. #TheFlowerHouse #NickyBlack #Review #CrimeBookJunkie #RandomThingsTours

THANK YOU 🙏🏻 to Random Things Tours and the author, Nicky Black for inviting me to take part in this blog tour and providing me with an e-ARC

In the summer of 1967, a grand Georgian home becomes a haven for those seeking enlightenment. Its residents live a life of peace, love and harmony.

Until things take a sinister turn.

‘Like a virus, poverty thrived in confined spaces.’ And this theme was prevalent as the story unfolds.

The Flower House is part of a series, but a complete standalone story. The only connection to the series is the Valley Park estate. (I loved the other books too, so definitely worth adding the trio to your TBR!)

Here’s what you can expect in The Flower House:

🌺 sinister undertones

🌼 unreliable narrators

🌻 strong family bonds

🌸 mysterious past

🌺 cultish vibes

🌼 revenge

🌻 poverty & socioeconomic status

The book is set in Newcastle and the author uses dialogue to really capture the setting perfectly.

With multiple POV’s and then & now chapters, you learn a lot about certain characters back stories without feeling overwhelmed. The story is quite filmic and I could picture scenes as the author described them. A real immersive experience – the seeds of suspense are planted chapter by chapter to capture you and keep you turning the pages.

This book has a lot of vibrant characters, I was never sure who to trust, was mislead many a time and changed my mind from chapter to chapter.

Would I recommend this read? Was dope popular with the hippies? It’s a hell yeah from me! If you love dark pasts, questionable characters and twisty storylines, this is the book for you!

Don’t just take my word for it, check out what everyone else thinks by following the tour here:
