Bet You Can’t…FIND ME: Claire Knight ~Guest Review~

Claire has been a busy reviewing bee this week #bookjunkies and I am loving it!  Today she is reviewing the start of a series by the fantabulous Linda S Prather.  I suspect I have another book to add to Mount St TBR.  Check it out!

Synopsis:

Imagine a killer who can kill at will from a distance. No gun, no weapon. Nothing more than a thought.”

Catherine Mans has the ability to see and hear what others can’t. With the help of Homicide Sergeant Cody Allen, she’s turned that talent into a successful profession as a psychic consultant.

But Catherine’s past is coming back to haunt her. Someone is threatening the lives of everyone she loves.

Nine bodies have been discovered, and Catherine is the FBI’s prime suspect.

To prove her innocence, she must unravel the secrets of her past, and answer the challenge of a deranged psychic.

Claire’s Review:

I came across Linda Prather after “going” to her joint book launch Facebook party with Mel Comley last year and I won Eternal Beauty, the second Catherine Mans book. Being someone who prefers to read series in the right order ~ (I can hear some book lovers out there reading this saying it’s a “must”) ~ I downloaded “Bet you can’t … find me”. And it sat electronically gathering dust.

I love the cover; the steely clear blue eyes against the pale skin of the young girl starring out at you sets the tone for the sinister tale inside.

I didn’t know what to expect when I started the book but there was murder, intrigue and creepy psychic activity which made for an interesting combination! Having read Caroline Mitchell’s latest offering, I have to say despite the lead characters in each series having a psychic at the centre of the action, this has a very different feel to it so don’t be fooled that they’ll be similar reads. Personally I find books from writers from across the pond do generally have a different feel to those written by British writers. I’ve not managed to work out why, despite reading a number from both sides of the Atlantic. And then there are those British writers who have emigrated whose books have yet another feel….but I digress.

The story starts with Catherine and her friends Rosetta and Cody. I loved the chemistry between the different parties of the trio; Catherine and Cody’s mutual but unspoken attraction for each other; Rosetta’s protective friendship towards Catherine, much akin to a mother hen. Wilkes then adds a different dynamic to the group, who treat him with the animosity he’s probably due, when he storms in causing upset!

I’ll definitely be reading the follow up, Eternal Beauty and Linda Prather’s legal thrillers featuring Jenna James which I expect to be less creepy but equally as enjoyable.

Sold!  I have downloaded this for the TBR and silently curse Claire as she is supposed to be helping me reduce my pile….not add to it! ?  If this book has you looking for a fix #bookjunkies, click the link below! (Claire’s ears may start burning from all the curses….?)
