Time is of the essence to find a missing young mother.
DI Lorne Simpkins and her partner, DS Pete Childs try to solve one of their most complex cases to date.
Having returned to work after completing her maternity leave, Kim Connell is reported missing by her concerned husband when she fails to come home that evening.
The investigation reveals a dark and sinister motive in the search for Kim.
Discover what that motive is by reading Seeking Justice – a fast-paced Justice novella.
I’m a huge fan of the Justice series so I immediately bought this as soon as publication day came around!
Set in London, this novella touches on fear, loss, mistakes, bad decisions and poor judgement, consequences and the search for the truth.
Told from the third person POV, the reader is pulled into this fairly fast-paced read with an interesting storyline that will pull on your emotions at times. I have to say, I was a little surprised when all was revealed, and things wrapped up quite quickly – but it was a novella, so you have to expect that!
DI Lorne Simpkins is back in this prequel to some of the other Justice series books as her partner in crime, Pete is still around to be that sounding board and voice of reason. I adore the dynamics of this duo as they seamlessly bounce off each other and keep the reader engaged. Poor Lorne seems to be on a bit of a downer with men in this novella and has some tough decisions to make – thankfully, Pete is there to remind her that she needs to stop putting all her energy into work if she wants to work out or make a decision about her personal life. For those of you who are fans of this series, you will certainly see a bit of foreshadowing of what is to come in the future novels!
I also loved the appearance of a few other familiar faces as we learn a little more backstory to Lorne and the relationships she later has with each of these individuals in future stories.
I enjoy the simplicity of this series, in that you get a solid story which you can read in a matter of hours. When it comes to Lorne and her police team, what you see is what you get and the reader is instantly pulled into the whole series as if you are long, lost friends!
Would I recommend this book? Abso-friggin-lutely! I am a sucker for a novella and even moreso when it gives me that quick fix as I wait for the next book in a series to arrive! If you haven’t yet become a fan of the Justice series, you have no idea what you are missing, but the novella’s are a great place to catch you up and draw you in!
