ABOUT THE BOOK

In an alley way of the back streets of Glasgow there lies a decomposing corpse of a slain female baking in the midday heat. No one has found her yet, but medium Patrick McLaughlin knows she is there. It is not the first time he has dreamt of death… and he soon finds out that it is not to be the last. Meanwhile, the local police start to request DNA samples from twenty something men in the bustling city of Glasgow where several bizarre murders have taken place. Through a hunch and in the belief that the terrifying dreams hold the key to the identity of the murderer, Patrick works alongside the police to track down the predator before they can strike again. The nightmares do not ease up and begin to tear at Patrick’s sanity and in the midst of the investigation, at what cost would Patrick have to pay to stop the killer striking again? His friends? His family? His life?

MY REVIEW:

I first have to say I am LOVING the new cover of this book! My thanks to Bloodhound Books, Publicity Manager Sarah Hardy and the author for an ARC and the opportunity to be a part of this blog tour.

Set in Glasgow, the reader is faced with death, the unexplained, secrets/lies, fears, haunting truths and the unknown.

This is the first book in the Patrick McLaughlin series.  I was immediately hooked by the story-line as it combined murder, mystery and a bit of paranormal activity to keep me on the edge of my seat. In fact, it was so good I have read it three times now and each time I pick up something I have missed earlier on.  It is a little different from the first time I read it, but instead of taking away from the original suspense of this book, it definitely added to it!  Twists, a cleverly woven plot and a great narrative makes this a definite favourite of mine!

When you read Beyond Evidence you are drawn into each character through great description. I simply adore Patrick & Jodie McLaughlin.  The emotions and confusion they feel at times, really comes through  and left me torn between hugging them and pushing them forward to solving the crime(s).  I love books where I actually create a picture of the person in my mind and this was certainly one of them.

Mark & Ross also captured my interest immediately!  I wondered whether they could be trusted and needless to say, I was surprised by the character development….

DS Preston and DC Lang – the epitome of “good cop/bad cop” but both very likeable, even when they are not!  I adore this duo from Strathclyde Police and love the banter and way they bounce off each other.  I also love the way they question everything …even themselves at times!  Really looking forward to seeing how their characters develop in this series.

If you have not already read this book…Please do…it gets a HELL YEAH recommendation from me!  I guarantee you will not be disappointed. Murder, mystery, suspense and a dash of the paranormal will keep readers on their toes and begging for more!
