Synopsis:
A body is discovered with the dismembered parts of six victims stitched together like a puppet, nicknamed by the press as the ‘ragdoll’.
Assigned to the shocking case are Detective William ‘Wolf’ Fawkes, recently reinstated to the London Met, and his former partner Detective Emily Baxter.
The ‘Ragdoll Killer’ taunts the police by releasing a list of names to the media, and the dates on which he intends to murder them.

When I saw the press release for Ragdoll and Trapeze Books signing this debut author, I was very excited; the premise of the novel – 6 victims, 1 body – was something very different! Then I got to meet the man himself at a blogger’s lunch in Harrogate organised by the lovely Sam Eades, one of the Senior Commissioning Editors at Trapeze. You never should judge a book by its cover or its author. Daniel is a good looking chap with a wealth of experience in saving people and animals- paramedic, RSPCA, RNLI….and now he’s killing people off rather dramatically!
I really liked all the main characters. Fawkes is a passionate man, determined to get the crooks by any means, bending the rules when he needed to. Baxter’s wit is brilliant “we could swap your face with John Travolta’s…oh no wait that was a movie”. Edmunds is a dark horse full of information, quite a surprise for a fraud specialist. The whole investigation was like a game of cat and mouse. When the team realised the Ragdoll Killer knew their ever move, I was suspicious of them all! Which one of them was feeding the killer information?!!
All the deaths are all so different, nothing like a normal serial killer with a honed MO. The Ragdoll Killer reminded me of John Doe in Se7en, a favourite film of mine.
Ragdoll is a fantastic debut novel, with a great pace to it. This book is definitely not for the faint-hearted, some of the deaths are a little gruesome. If you like some gore mixed in with your crime thriller, you’re in for a treat! And I have to say I LOVE the cover of Ragdoll, it’s simple but perfect for the book.
