If you didn’t get a chance to see me embarrass myself and want a laugh….have a look HERE.
Right! Enough blabbing….here is my review:
SYNOPSIS
IT TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE…
WHO IS DEADLIER …
Leonard Howell’s worst nightmare has come true: his daughter Amy has been kidnapped. Not content with relying on the cops, Howell calls the only man he trusts to get her back.
… THE MAN WHO KNOWS THE TRUTH …
Eddie Flynn knows what it’s like to lose a daughter and vows to bring Amy home safe. Once a con artist, now a hotshot criminal attorney, Flynn is no stranger to the shady New York underworld.
… OR THE ONE WHO BELIEVES A LIE?
However, as he steps back into his old life, Flynn realizes that the rules of game have changed – and that he is being played. But who is pulling the strings? And is anyone in this twisted case telling the truth…?
A missing girl, a desperate father and a case that threatens to destroy everyone involved – Eddie Flynn’s got his work cut out in the thrilling new novel from the author of The Defence.
My Rating: 5/5

My Review:
I owe a huge debt of book-loving gratitude to Kate of Bibliophile Book Club for introducing me to Steve Cavanagh’s books as it renewed my love of Legal Thrillers! I had stopped reading this sub genre a while ago, no particular reason…it just happened…and then I was introduced to Eddie Flynn and OMFG, my love returned…..tenfold! Mind……blown!!
So what happens in the latest novel? Well we return to the Big Apple (New York) where we come face to face with fear, loss, manipulation, betrayal, bending the rules as a means to an end and the search for justice.
Holy sh*tballs, peeps! This is one of the best books I have come across to immediately hook you and then throw #Boom after #Boom until you think you can’t take any more! These #Booms were sensational and my heart could barely take this fast paced, tempestuous plot! I LOVED every minute of this read and could barely tear myself away — #PoorPoorBuster – not sure he is a fan as my focus for 24 hours was to get to the end of this book!
In terms of characters and the narrative…two words….Eddie Flynn ….’nough said! Another one of my #FictionalCrushes – Eddie Flynn brings the story-line ALIVE and never fails to put a smile on my face! ? In this book, Eddie is estranged from his wife, though he maintains contact with his daughter – two people who are central to his existence, yet he finds himself torn between family life and his profession. Deep down, Eddie is just a regular guy, decent and fiercely loyal- but he can be devious….if the need arises. I love his passion to help the underdog and seek the truth.
Agent Harper is a strong, female character in this story. She is courageous, clever and goes with her gut. She looks beyond the obvious and I absolutely adored her. I really hope we meet her again at some point. Agent Lynch on the otherhand….well, he is just an arse…plain and simple….I did not like this guy at all, but Agent Lynch..karma is a bitch, ain’t it!? ?
Judge Harry Ford – awwww ….bloody love this guy! He grounds Eddie, that inner voice that shouts reason when Eddie needs it. The banter between Harry and Eddie was superb! Ford is funny, intelligent, logical and such a likeable character!
Julie Rosen FASCINATED me….we are drip fed details of how she fits into the story-line and OMFG, what an AWESOME thread this was! I had figured out part of it, but then one of those nuclear BOOMS came and knocked me right on my arse!
George Vindico – WTAF?! That is all I am saying about that….and Leonard Howell…had no clue whether or not I trusted him. It was superb the way the author had me second guessing myself throughout. I could give you a play by play of all the unique, interesting and absolutely exceptional characters, but then there would be no reason for any of you to pick up and read this book!
