Woohoo! I am totally THRILLED to be kicking off Emma L Clapperton’s THE DEAD WHISPER (formerly known as Henderson Manor) blog blitz today along with a group of awesome bloggers! Before I start though, let’s find out a bit more about this author and the book!
About The Author
Emma Clapperton, born December 1985, has always had a passion for reading and writing. She particularly enjoys reading supernatural or horror books. James Herbert is a firm favourite, with The Ghosts of Sleath being one of the books which pushed her to go on to create her own supernatural crime series, featuring Patrick McLaughlin. The books are based in Glasgow and there are plenty of references to the city in her work.
Emma studied childcare and gained qualifications to work with the early years in 2002, later going on to work in the Montessori sector of early years. In 2017 she gained a qualification to work as a Forest School early years leader and can often be found teaching three and four year olds how to cook on an open fire. Alongside this she is also studying for a diploma in Montessori Early Childhood Practice.
She currently resides in a little town outside of the city of Glasgow with her husband and ginger cat and is working on future projects.

My Review:
I had the absolute pleasure of getting to read this book in the early stages and watch it take shape. My thanks to the author and Sarah Hardy from Bloodhound Books for an ARC.
The story starts out in Glasgow, where it is set, with a description and history of the people who inhabit Henderson Manor years before the new tenants move in and become embroiled in a story of murder. The reader is faced with jealousy, secrets, the past, obsession, relationships and the unexplained….
I loved the suspense and build up of tension in this pacey novel – with a gripping narrative and fabulous characters that the reader sees developing as we get more involved/ invested in the story! Although this is the second book in the Patrick McLaughlin series, it can easily be read as a stand alone.
We start the book learning about Sam and Jenny. Two best friends who share a flat. Sam is an actor and Jenny is very protective of him after a ‘bad experience’ with a woman he thought loved him but turned out to be an obsessive fan.
Eventually Sam meets Deborah and life seems to be going in the right direction until all these strange, unexplained happenings begin to take place in Sam and Jenny’s flat.
A body is found and in come Lang and Preston. LOVE these coppers! The police have a murder to investigate and the victim is tied to quite a few characters in the book. The classic ‘whodunnit’ and believe me, when the story unfolds it will leave your head spinning!
We are reintroduced to Patrick and Jodie, the ‘psychics‘ and this is where the story really begins to take a turn. What I loved about this book is just when I thought I had figured everything out…well I hadn’t! There are so many ‘wow’ moments that I was hooked and spent two nights up into the wee hours as I could not put this book down.
Do I recommend this book? Hmmmmm….You better believe I do!! In fact, I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a bit of romance, murder, mystery, and a phenomenal twist at the end! Eery, haunting and full of hard hitting suspense, this book is definitely one to add to the TBR!
