Synopsis: Betrayals of trust, poker cheats, ambitious barristers, cyber bullies, lost diplomats and revenge are just some of the themes explored in this collection of short stories. As Mike Craven introduces Detective Inspector Avison Fluke and the rest of his characters from Cumbria’s Force Major Incident Team, in tales where little is at seems, the only thing you can do is Assume Nothing, Believe No One, Challenge Everything.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. When this book arrived in the post, never did I think it would have evoked the excitement it did when I finished it.

Without running through the synopsis again, I will just say that this book is a brilliant, well written and thought provoking collection of short stories which introduces us to DI Avison Fluke and the Cumbrian Major Force Incident Team.

There are five stories in total and each one gives you a different insight into the characters of Assume Nothing, Believe Nobody, Challenge Everything. What I like is that you are not bombarded with overly descriptive text or procedures and instead, it is like you are personally meeting each character through the stories in which they feature.

The book is full of humour, justice, passion and experiences which the reader, on some level, can relate to. I have my favourite stories but won’t bias any readers as I think each person will take something different from the pages. That, to me, is what separates a good book from a great book…and this truly is a great book!

I can honestly say that I have not felt this excited about a book or an author in awhile and Mike Craven is certainly an author I am going to keep a close eye on! I really look forward to reading more about Fluke and the Major Force Incident Team!
