About the Book

Their darkest secrets won’t stay buried forever…

The butchered body of a professor is found in a private office of Exeter University. It is the first in a spate of horrific murders that shakes the city to its core.

Who would target a seemingly innocent man, and why? DS Imogen Grey and DS Adrian Miles turn to his students for answers, but their investigation turns up no leads. Someone must know more than they’re letting on…

As the body count rises, the police have to look into the past to uncover the person responsible before it’s too late.

But are they brave enough to face up to the truth?

Set in Exeter, we are thrown into a world of fear, retribution, manipulation, mistrust, relationships, conflict, boundaries, and a search for the truth …but so much more!

Jaysus wept! I absolutely ADORE Katerina Diamond’s books and this one…SUBloodyPERB!! That opening knocked me for six – sooooo many questions and when it all became clear, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor – ok, not literally but you get my meaning, right!? NAILED IT!!  What I love about this author is her masterful way of weaving doubt in the readers mind – you are just pulled in and then BOOM! She throws a curve ball that really sets your synapses on FIRE!! Great character development, a tight and totally eery storyline and some kickass twists. I was invested and turned those pages so fast, I could not believe how quickly I read this book. I loved the build up of suspense and the tension had me biting my nails. Simply phenomenal!

Character-wise I must talk about Imogen and Adrian…I just MUST! I love how Imogen has some inner turmoil festering and I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what she would do…vague, right? Well, I can’t really say what I am on about – read the book! Imogen is determined to crack the case, and is not afraid to push some boundaries if it means protecting those she cares about. However, Adrian really stole the show for me in this. There is a total awkwardness between him and Imogen and he really comes across as quite vulnerable, even when he is trying to hold on to the facade he hopes no one can see through.

And what I absolutely LOVED about this book were the red herrings and the gruesome crimes – goosebumps galore – if you don’t like gritty and absolutely amazing gore – do not pick up this book. Saying that, the author doesn’t sensationalise anything – whatever is written serves its purpose perfectly!

So would I recommend this book? You bet your sweet ‘ol arse I would! Intense, thrilling and oh-so-chilling, I highly recommend you grab a copy of Truth or Die today! Easily read as a stand alone, so don’t worry if you haven’t read anything else in the series!

Keep reading for a little teaser from the novel below!

Extract from Truth or Die by Katerina Diamond

All in all, the night passed without much beyond the usual; in fact it was unusually quiet for Valentine’s Day. He sat mostly in silence, occasionally grunting a response when someone called his name, or when someone was brought in. Still, Adrian was grateful that he wasn’t at a loose end this evening. He couldn’t handle the endless whirring of his brain; he needed a break from thinking about himself and his situation. He had never been a strong believer in depression, but it was certainly knocking on his door, trying to get a hold of him.

‘Thanks for agreeing to this. I wasn’t sure if you would have plans,’ Denise said to him.

‘Nope, no plans.’

There was a pause, awkward, too long to be natural.

‘You could come over to mine when we’ve finished if you want . . . no strings,’ Denise said, a cheeky smile on her face, the kind of smile that had worked on him several times in the past.

‘Um, wow, thanks, but I think I have a migraine brewing.’ Strange that she would proposition him now; maybe it was just the idea of being alone. Valentine’s Day seemed to magnify any feelings of loneliness in everyone; Adrian knew because he could feel it, too.

‘I thought maybe you wanted to get together, I thought that’s why you agreed to do this.’

‘Denise, you know I like you a lot, but I’m just not in the right headspace to be in a relationship right now, no strings or otherwise.’

‘Oh. Sorry I brought it up. Let’s get back to work. No big deal.’ Her face was flushed, easy to see against her porcelain skin and bleached bob; the pink shone through like sunburn. She seemed embarrassed at her assumption and shut down completely.
