Something a little different on the blog today! 🍾🥂 Happy Publication Day, Zoé! I’m over the moon to be taking part in the blog tour for DEBUT author Zoé Lee O’Farrell and sharing my review for OUIJA! A horror, YA Thriller novella that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention! So proud of Zoé for following her dreams and getting this book out there! But first, a little about this extraordinary woman and her book!
About the Author
Zoé O’Farrell grew up in Watford but left the town life to live by the sea down at the White Cliffs of Dover.
She spends her days working with numbers before escaping in the evening to the world of words and movies. Her go-to relaxation is watching a scary movie or reading a terrifying book!
She is a book blogger and tour organiser just to keep her extra busy. When she is not reading or writing, you can usually find her watching Watford FC or at a gig. Failing that she can be found rolling her eyes at her husband as he acts the same age as her spitfire of a Mini-Me whilst separating her two cats.
Ouija is her debut novel.

Set in the UK, this novella follows themes of friendships & bonds, teenage angst, fear, the paranormal, survival and searching for answers when things were probably best left well enough alone!
For a debut novella this really packs a punch. Such a creepy prologue, the tone is immediately set and I knew as the reader, I was in for a scary read!
The story takes us to Raynor highschool, with a dual timeline and multiple POV’s giving the reader the context and explaining the backstory as you get deeper into the story. It was really atmospheric – the descriptions of the dilapidated highschool had me right there in the moment. Great world building too as I could picture the setting where the students lived, hung out and existed. The characters felt real with an authentic narrative based on their ages. Short, sharp chapters left me on edge and some great hooks at the end of the chapters, made me want to keep reading!
Would I recommend this book? That’s a firm HELL YEAH from me! If you like unnerving, addictive, spine-tingling reads you’ll want to add Ouija to your TBR… just make sure you read it with the lights on! ☠️😱
